One of my favorite groups of all time is Earth, Wind & Fire (shows you how old I am!) They had many great pop songs in the 70's and 80's, including the top 10 hit "September" in 1978. The opening line in the song mentions the 21st of September (as we talked about for my Top 12 Extra on September 20th). 

In 2007, Kirk Franklin was asked to be a part of a tribute album to Earth, Wind & Fire called "Interpretations- Celebrating the Music of Earth, Wind & Fire." Each artist put their on twist to one of EWF's classic songs. Kirk chose "September" and made it into a love song for Jesus- remebering the night of September 21st when you gave your life to Him. The song was popular on Christian radio, especially on The JOY FM (J93.3 back then). Here is the music video, with a special appearance by the late Maurice White (long time lead singer of Earth, Wind & Fire)-

Bonus video- Tauren Wells recorded a cover of the original song for his first album, Hills & Valleys. When I first heard it, I was transported back to my days as a 12-year old playing wiffle ball in my backyard with my favorite radio station blasting this song. It's SO GOOD!
