Youth Director - Part Time

Description:
The Director of Youth Ministry will be responsible for inspiring and supporting the spiritual development of middle and high school youth and providing leadership of youth activities and Christian formation. Creativity, flexibility, and a willingness to experiment will be essential qualities for this position. • Be present on Sunday for worship, Sunday school, and afternoon youth group. • Plan and facilitate weekly Sunday school program (Sept-May) and weekly youth group activity/program for middle and high school youth. • Communicate with parents and youth via weekly email and social media; and maintain youth social media publicity and youth calendar (Facebook, Instagram, parish website). • Facilitate opportunities for youth to participate in Diocesan youth events and retreats as well as local outreach ministries. • Maintain contact lists and requisite permission forms for all participating youth. • Assist with planning of summer vacation bible school program. • Coordinate youth-led parish events. • Cultivate relationships with the adult volunteer youth ministry advisors.

Qualifications:
Candidate ideally should have at least two-years of college education; but at a minimum the candidate must have been out of high school at least two years. In addition, candidates should have: • A well-grounded and robust Christian faith, with the ability to articulate it to teenagers and exhibit a commitment to relational/incarnational youth ministry. • A commitment to working with young people, parents, and volunteers in a high-energy and dynamic environment. • Previous work experience demonstrating strong computer and communication skills. • A valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record. • Employment requires a background check and completion of the Episcopal Church Safe Church program within the first 30 days. This is a part-time position that requires approximately 12-15 hours each week. Although the schedule varies depending on the seasonal programming needs, typically during the school year the time commitment breaks down approximately as follows: • Two to three hours on Sunday morning being present for worship, coffee hour, and teaching high school and middle school Sunday School class. • Approximately three hours most Sunday evenings leading youth fellowship (EYC) program. • Approximately four hours/week planning youth program and communicating with youth and parents, including updating youth website and social media accounts.

This is part-time, salaried position with two weeks of paid vacation that must be taken in June or July. The salary range is $15,000-$18,000 per year based on experience.
