Position Title: Campus Safety and Security CoordinatorDate Modified: April 2023FLSA Classification:ExemptReports to: Chief Operations OfficerPosition Purpose:
Directs and coordinates activities related to protection, safeguarding andsecurity for all community members. Manages daily operations of security officers, Works closely with Facilities and IT departments to ensure the school's safety and security.
Essential Functions:Safety & Security
- Provides a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and guests on campus.Identifies, evaluates, controls, and minimizes the school's exposure to injury of students, employees,parents, and visitors- Collaborates with security officers to investigate security matters. Utilizes campus security systems andpersonal interviews to prepare investigation reports for school leadership and, when required, externalauthorities- Monitors campus security systems, cameras, and surveillance equipment when required- Oversees and manages the Landmark Christian School EMP plans to provide a safe environment andimmediate response to imminent threats of violence, criminal incidents, and emergency medicalincidents- Leads full-time, part-time, and on-call security personnel, and ensures that procedures and policies arefollowed to promote campus safety and reduce risk.- Develops and completes regular training for security officers, faculty, staff, and students- Leads the effort to plan, schedule, train, conduct, and evaluate campus safety drills- Completes regular security audits/assessments and creates reports for risk management- Monitors the school calendar to ensure appropriate security coverage for all school events- Performs scheduled tours of the school and grounds by vehicle or by walking to ensure high visibilityand inspect the campus for security, fire, and liability risks- Investigates and assesses workers' compensation incidents. Makes recommendations to improve safety to the Director of Facilities- Assists in the recommendation, development, and implementation of improvements to security-related procedures, furnishings, equipment, and systems- Augments security staff with law enforcement agencies and off-duty police officers as required for specific events- Manages user access and badging for the access control system.
General:- Acts as a member of the campus on-call duty rotation.
- Participates as a member of the safety and security task force team.- Monitors policies and procedures on campus safety and security to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and insurance regulations.- Provides basic first aid and medical attention as appropriate.- Maintains productive working relationships with the local police, fire, and emergency managementagencies.- Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. A minimum of five years experience in security, safety, or a related field.- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.- Demonstrated knowledge of security procedures and school safety issues.- Ability to analyze risk and make appropriate recommendations.- Ability to react calmly and to act professionally while effectively taking charge in an emergency or stressful situation.- Ability to read and understand documents and to write routine reports and correspondence.- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.- Be able to exercise independent judgment and discretion at all times.- Enthusiastically supports the school's mission.- Communicates well, works congenially, and deals effectively with all school personnel and families, aswell as with the larger business and educational community.- Supports Landmark Christian School's Mission and core values- Physical Requirements and Work Environment:- Must be able to work outside in seasonal temperatures and conditions.- Must have the flexibility to work during both daylight and evening hours as needs arise.- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.- Must be willing and able to assist in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury).- Must possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campus.- Reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, and moving light equipment are required.
