Assistant Director of Fitness & Performance Training Job Title: Assistant Director of Fitness & Performance Training Job Type: Full-time, 12-month position Reports To: Director of Fitness & Performance Training Term: This employment agreement is for the fiscal year 2023-2024, which runs from August 1, 2023 – July 31, 2024. *Potential part-time assistant role available starting June 5 th where the summer would be used as a trial period. Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Fitness & Performance Training is a 12-month full-time, position. The Head of School or Principal may require changes subject to the needs of the school. The Employee shall perform duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Fitness & Performance. Training may be modified from time to time as needed. In addition, you are expected to participate in extracurricular or extra duties (such as open houses, events, drop off, pick up, lunchroom, recess, 3 mandatory gate duties, etc.) that may or may not take place during what is generally considered to be the school or working day (and may include weekends). Qualifications: Landmark’s Athletic Department is looking for a Director of Fitness and Performance Training to start August 1 st, 2023. The most important aspect of this position is their humility. We are only interested in teachable and humble candidates. The candidate must be a hungry, a life-long learner, and proactive by wanting to go above and beyond in every task asked to do. The candidate must be able to mentor and develop the Assistant Director. We are looking for coaches who are highly motivated and passionate about training athletes in regards to physical preparation, injury reduction, and most of all character development. The coach will be expected to mentor/develop the Assistant Director and possible interns in motivation strategies, on-the-job communication skills, periodization and programming, movement coaching, and professional career development. Required: -Landmark Christian School is a distinctively Christian Private School that celebrates a highly diverse student athlete population and is located in Fairburn Georgia. Therefore, the applicant must be a Christian and provide a statement of faith. - Applicants must be certified through the NSCA to have their CSCS or through the CSCCA and hold their SCCC. - They must have their CPR/AED up to date. - They must have a bachelors degree in an Exercise Science related field. - 2 years+ High School/College experience in Strength and Conditioning. Preferred: - USAW Certification. -Leadership Development experience. - Experience working with high school and middle school athletes. - High School and/or Middle School teaching experience (specifically in the weight room). - Multi-sport experience (both in playing multiple sports and the experience in training multiple sports athletes) - 3 years+ High School/College experience in Strength and Conditioning - Previous intern/assistant experience. - Staff development experience. - Master’s Degree in an Exercise Science-related field. Roles and Responsibilities: The Assistant will assist the Director in the following areas: Athletics (Performance Training Focus): - Educate, motivate, empower, and provide leadership training for student-athletes - Focus on preparing, protecting, and performing to build champions for life for the Glory of God - Assist in designing adaptable programs for multi-sport athletes in different training phases - Use evidence-based research and knowledge to reduce the risk of injury and optimize speed, strength, power, endurance, and movement efficiency - Assist in the setup and break down weight room and equipment before, during, and after lifting or movement sessions - Assist in the maintenance of the weight room equipment and facility structure - Build positive relationships with students and student-athletes, serve them often, and live as a role model for them - Lead interns and Assistant Director of Fitness and Performance Training in professional development and on-the-job training/mentoring Athletics Schedule: - Mon - Thur 3:30pm - 6:30pm (6 training slots, all 30min long at least) - Fri - Zero Period 6:30-7:30am (full hour training slot) - Sat - 8:30-9:30am (Extra Strength and/or Recover Session) *Fall only - Summer: Mon - Thur 8:00-12pm Football 8-11am, All other sports 11-12pm Academics (Fitness and Performance Training Focus): - Teach Fitness and Performance Training classes during Fall and Spring semesters - Participate in professional development, staff development, planning, and margin during open periods - Mentor, educate, develop, and empower any interns - Help design and implement safe and appropriate training for all student-athletes and Fitness and Performance Training Classes Academics Schedule: - Fall/Spring Semesters: 7:40-3:30pm Teaching the Fitness and Performance Training Classes (30min long, Th/W 75min long) - There will be at least 2 open periods in the day for professional development, staff development, planning, and margin. Main Responsibilities: - Assist in developing safe and appropriate training programs for all student-athletes and Fitness and Performance Training Classes - Mentor, educate, develop, and empower any interns. - Assist in overseeing all sports using the weight room, court, or field work for fitness and performance training. - Assist in implementing adaptable programs for all the multi-sport athletes in the different phases of training (off-season, pre-season, in- season, post-season). - Use evidence-based, experienced-based research and knowledge when programming for optimal speed, strength, power, endurance, and movement efficiency as well as reduced risk of injury. - Assist in set up and break down of weight room and equipment before, during, and after the lifting or movement sessions. - Assist in Weight Room Maintenance - Assist in the semester inventory check on all the equipment and facility structure to see what is faulty and needs to be replaced and what is safe and functional. - Assist in the process of daily cleaning used equipment, benches, machines, and weight room. - Have a positive influence and motivation for all the students and student-athletes. - Motivate each athlete by getting to know their name, their why, and building a positive relationship with them built on trust, respect, love and care. - Serve them often by praying for them, being friendly to them, and speaking life to them and over them. - Live as a role model for them in purity, conduct, speech, exercise, eating, sleep, and life choices. - Assist in leading the interns in professional development and on-the-job training/mentoring. - Participate in weekly staff development meetings with interns and the Director of Fitness and Performance Training. Staff Development: - Weekly meetings with the Director and possible interns to cover topics such as: -Program Design -Overview of Coach -Mental Training -Communication Skills -Olympic Training -Relationship Building -Coaching 101 -Strength/Power Training -Resume Building -Nutrition -Professional Development -Certification Preparation -How to order equipment -Portfolio training and resume building -Interview preparation and follow up -Recovery -Networking -Knowledge Questionnaire -Practical Skill Testing -Video Film Analysis -Research on the Profession -Being teachable -How to work the budget -Personal development strategies -Being humble -How to order equipment -Discipline -How to grow in their faith -How to share their faith -How to grow through being uncomfortable -Leadership development -How to do a site visit and network -How to be loud, have a presence -How to care for athletes -How to motivate athletes -Growth through feedback -How to talk with AT’s and SC’s -How to speak the proper language -How to have thick skin -Injury modification lifts/exercises -Time management strategies -How to be proactive -How to work with many different sports Salary and Benefits: These will be discussed during the second phase of the interview process.
