The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for directing the staff and overseeing the operations of the Housekeeping Department in the absence of the Director of Engineering. This position performs assigned cleaning and housekeeping duties within established quality care and service standards. Support mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision. In the absence of or as assigned by the Director of Engineering, plan, organize, and evaluate Housekeeping functions. Schedule and supervise Housekeeping staff. Conduct routine inspection of building to ascertain cleaning needs. Assign work; establish deadlines; evaluate progress and quality of work. Clean and service public/common areas and private resident areas in accordance with established health, hygiene, and appearance policies and regulations (including safety and risk management) and in order of priority established by supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) • At least 1 year of related work experience PREFERRED SKILLS • Ability to read and write, follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively in English. Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion. Ability to perform duties with consideration for residents’ rights at all times and demonstrate integrity and discretion in the care of residents and in handling their health information. • Knowledge of safe and appropriate use of cleaning supplies and equipment. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS Physical: On a daily basis, throughout the workday: Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, turning, bending, stooping, crouching and kneeling, balancing and maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling, reaching over the head, pushing/pulling, grasping with both hands, and fine manipulation. Must physically be able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted and exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Must have normal eyesight or use corrective lenses to attain normal eyesight. Must have three-dimensional vision and ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are. Must be able to recognize colors. Must be able to hear and distinguish between normal tones and be able to perceive the nature of sounds. Must be able to exchange ideas by means of the spoken word as well as engage in activities to convey detailed or spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, and/or quickly. Must have normal sense of touch and smell. Work: Works primarily in well-lighted, well ventilated building. Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, odors, water, cleaning chemicals, etc., as well as noise. Subject to frequent interruptions. Subject to hostile or emotionally upset individuals. Must be willing to work, when necessary, beyond normal working hours and on weekends, as well as in other positions as necessary. Risk & Safety The position requires exposure to moderate risk to physical and/or mental health and safety (i.e. exposure to environmentally hazardous material, heavy equipment, assault and battery, communicable disease, etc.). Exposure Classification: Work related tasks assigned to this position involve the potential exposure as classified in Category II by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
