ANONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH: YOUTH MINISTRY ASSISTANT (PART-TIME) PURPOSE The purpose of the position is to support in the coordination and implementation of youth ministry programming that encourages faith formation and spiritual development in the lives of 6th-12th grade students. REPORTS TO: Youth Ministry Director, Director of Family Ministries DUTIES/TASKS - Participation in Youth events, weekly programming, and Family Ministry events o Assist in Sunday Night Youth Group programming This position would assist with programming for middle and high school students under the leadership of the Youth Ministry Director and alongside adult volunteers. Elements include adult & student leadership meetings, games, worship, large group talk time, dinner, small group discussions, etc. o Build relationships with students and their families This position requires an ability to cultivate personal and appropriate relationships with youth and adults within the church. Willingness to participate in the life of the church outside youth programming is preferred. o Help plan, prepare, and attend (when applicable) all youth trips and events o Partner with Family Ministry departments events and programming, helping at all Family Ministry special programs (such as Halloween, Christmas Eve, Easter, etc.) - Provide administrative support for the Youth Ministry Director and overall youth ministry o Assist in keeping youth areas and storage areas neat and organized o Assist in management of attendance, contact information, and registrations o Maintain Youth Ministry social media accounts (Facebook & Instagram) o Design graphics for advertising events, posting on social media & church website, etc. o Complete tasks to prepare for Youth programs (Bible Study, Band Practice, Youth Group, trips, etc.) as needed throughout the week o Any additional office and support tasks as needed Approximate Hours Per Week: 10-15 Includes Sundays, church holidays (such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Christmas Eve, Easter, etc.), weekends/evenings when youth events/trips are scheduled.


SKILLS - Active and growing faith in Jesus Christ - Ability to relate to and connect with students (6th-12th grades) - Heart for youth ministry and the maturity to lead students in spiritual growth - Ability to articulate clear and consistent theology - Experience in church ministry setting - Ability to effectively communicate goals, event purposes, self-management - Knowledge of and experience working with electronic and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, MailChimp, Microsoft Office, Canva, etc. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
