The Assistant Athletic Trainer is required to uphold the rules and regulations of the Covenant at Point University, the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC), the NAIA, and the NCCAA. Point University currently sponsors 19 sports teams and the Assistant Athletic Trainer will be an integral part of the sports medicine team caring for all of our athletic programs sponsored by the university. Responsibilities and Primary Activities: • Assist with the medical and injury related needs of student athletes • Evaluate athletic related injuries and determine appropriate subsequent care or referral • Directs medical supervision of team practices and events • Implements medical emergency action plan in event of medical emergency • Documents injuries, treatments and rehabilitation • Maintain accurate and up to date medical records • Develop appropriate flexibility and strength programs for injury prevention • Develop progressive rehabilitation programs post-injury safe return to activity • Oversee and administers daily treatment of student athletes • Conducting insurance verification of assigned student athletes • Submit insurance claims on behalf of student athletes • Travel with sports team(s) for medical coverage and care of student athletes on the road • Supervise and instructs Graduate Assistants and Interns • Counsel student athletes on injury, health, safety and nutrition topics • Assist with pre and post-practice treatment and preparation of venue and student athletes for athletic events • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


• A bachelor’s degree in athletic training or a related field from an accredited college or university and BOC certification • Active CPR/AED certified • Licensed to work in Georgia and Alabama (or eligible for license). Position Preferences: • Master’s degree and/or Athletic training experience at the university or collegiate level preferred. • NPI number • Proficient in SportsWare software • Prior experience with insurance claims
