The Bible On Fear

The Bible On FearFear is a complex and powerful emotion. It can save a life or render someone unable to act. Bravery is not the absence of fear, but rather taking action in spite of fear.

A recent study showed that fear is the emotion that fear is the emotion that Americans sought to avoid. There are many things to fear. Some surveys put the fear of public speaking at the top of the list, ahead of the fear of death. That leads to the seemingly ridiculous conclusion that if you have to attend a funeral you would prefer it to be your funeral rather than being the one delivering the eulogy. Fear is often cited as one of the main reasons Christians don’t talk to their non-Christian friends and family about their faith in Jesus.

The Bible has a great deal to say on the subject of fear, from the fear of the Lord being a good thing, the beginning of wisdom, to the fact that God’s perfect love casts out fear.

I’ll be sharing just some of what the Bible has to say on the topic of fear over the next two weeks during Middays Prayer Time around 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM.
