I don’t remember where I first saw this bit, it may have been in an old comic. Someone is on their hands and knees obviously searching for something. A friend walks up and asks, “What are you doing?”
“Looking for my keys.”
“Where did you have them last?”
“In the other room.”
“Why are you looking in here then?”
“The light’s better in here.”
Things hidden in the dark tend to stay hidden, at least until the light breaks through. Jesus talked about that with Nicodemus, a member of the Pharisees.
Mankind prefers darkness to light, because their deeds are evil. In fact, they hate the Light and stay as far from as they can, for fear that their evil deeds will be exposed. But those who practice the truth come to the Light so that their deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.
As those who call on the name of God we are to come to the Light, so that our own deeds would be obvious to us and we could alter the behaviors that aren’t pleasing to God and ensure that our deeds line up with our claim to faith.
We’ll finish up sharing those verses in John chapter 3 that highlight that discussion between Jesus and Nicodemus during Mid Day Prayer Time this week, weekdays around 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM.
