Pride is like a foot on our neck, holding us down. And yet it’s devious, making us think that we’re lifted up, flattering us, leading us to sin.

Sin, transgression, evil are attractive. As Psalms 36 says, “It (transgression) flatters him (the ungodly) in his own eyes.” Yet God's lovingkindness, faithfulness and righteousness are stronger. They preserve us and shelter us.

Pride is always lurking, seeking to drag us back into sin. David realized this and prays that God would keep pride and the hand of the wicked from driving him away from God's protection. That’s why it's vital to continue to cling to the Lord and His word.
