Our Citizenship

Monday, May 03, 2021

There has been quite a bit of debate, often divisive, about people who are in or who trying to gain access to this country without benefit of legal standing. Even the way we refer to such people has become a hotly debated topic. String the words “illegal” and “immigrant” or “alien” together and get ready for a heated argument.

The apostle Paul knew a thing or two about citizenship. He played the Roman citizen card when he was facing trial. Yet he was keenly aware of where his true citizenship was, and ours as well.  “For our citizenship is in Heaven,” he wrote to the Philippians. And then he went on to say that fact should give us confidence and courage to stand firm and reason to rejoice always.

When we understand who and whose we really are, it gives us great comfort and reason to rejoice no matter our circumstance.

This week I’ll be share from Paul’s letter to the Philippians during Mid Day Prayer Time, every weekday around 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM.
