We face frightening things all the time. The world is a scary place on many levels. Yet we have a source of unshakeable confidence when we walk with God.
King David had many reasons, many occasions to encounter fear. But he wrote, “in spite of this I shall be confident.” The source of that confidence? God’s presence. “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread. Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear.”
There is much in the world today to evoke fear, and there is even more reason to be confident. “I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.”
