Pursue Wisdom

Wednesday, October 07, 2020

Wisdom seems to be in short supply lately. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that the usage of wisdom has been rare lately. For God gives wisdom to those who ask. The book of Proverbs contains much on the subject of wisdom, including how to gain it. Very early in this collection of sayings and instruction we find just such an example.

pursue wisdomSolomon, who is generally credited with writing much of the Old Testament book of Proverbs and is considered to have been the wisest man who ever lived, writes, “For the Lord gives wisdom.” And once we seek it, ask God to grant it to us, “Wisdom will enter your heart and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; discretion will guard you, understanding will watch over you.”

With all that we face today, an upcoming election, a global pandemic, division over so many issues, we could all use more wisdom. And we can all gain it, simply by the asking.

During Middays Prayer Time, around 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM, for the rest of this week, I’ll be sharing from Proverbs chapter 2.
