There is a secret to joy, the kind of joy that endures and sustains us through even the darkest of times. Jesus revealed that secret to the disciples and to us in the 15th chapter of John's gospel. The short version is that when we obey Jesus' call on our lives, His commandments, we abide in His love and His joy fills us so that our own joy becomes full.
There's more to it, of course, but that's the crux. Jesus leads into how our joy may be made full by explaining that He is the vine and we are the branches. As we continue to abide in Jesus we bear fruit for the kingdom and in this God the Father is glorified and we prove ourselves to be disciples of Jesus.
This week I'll be sharing more of this secret to joy during Mid Day Prayer Time, around 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM Monday through Friday.
