TBT: Cindy Morgan

I always got the feeling that Cindy Morgan preferred writing to performing. Though she has mastered both. I met her in the early 1990s, shortly after her debut album, “Real Life” came out in 1992. That record earned her six Dove Award nominations and several Christian radio hits.

Cindy was quiet, soft spoken, with the slightest east Tennessee twang in her voice. Behind that reserved exterior her mind seemed always to be racing. She’s one of the smartest lyricists I’ve ever met. She won the Songwriter of the Year Dove Award in 2008. She’s written songs for Rascal Flatts, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, India.Arie and many others. She is one of the most sought after songwriters in Nashville. She has released 8 albums on her own, in addition to working on several compilation projects.

One of my favorite songs by Cindy, from the 1995 “Under The Waterfall” album, is “Sweet Days of Grace.” I couldn’t find an official concept video of that song, but here’s a fan video.

“How Could I Ask For More” was one Cindy’s earliest hits, it’s from her 1992 debut, “Real Life.”
