Highlights For The Week Of August 28, 2017
On Tuesday we held our annual #BeJoy Backpacks food drive. The JOY FM was in eight locations working community ministries and food banks to provide non-perishable items for children. Many of these kids go home from school on Friday and won’t get a nutritious meal until Monday, when they take part in a free breakfast and/or lunch program. #BeJoy Backpacks helps bridge that gap. I was at the Chick-fil-A in Phenix City. That’s where these photos were taken.
JOY Comes To Macon
On Friday we flipped the switch on WWWD-FM 102.1 in Macon. Now folks in the Macon/Warner Robbins area are becoming part of The JOY FM family. The Morning Cruise captured the moment in a Facebook live video.
Free App Of The Week
I’m not sure how long this app will be free. When I found it, it was the Apple App Store “Free App of the Week.” It’s called 8mm. It’s a video camera app that features filters to make your video look like it was shot on film, grainy, flickery 8mm film. Here’s my first attempt at it, using the 1920 filter. Find out more here.
What Kids Do After School
The Barna Group recently published a report on what kids (especially teens) do with their afterschool time. See the full report here.
Kermit’s New Voice
Kermit the Frog is one of the oldest Muppets, and, arguably, the world’s favorite frog. Muppet creator Jim Henson was the original voice of Kermit, until his death in 1990. Steve Whitmire took over and voiced Kermit until he was fired earlier this year. The Muppets introduced Matt Vogel as the new voice of Kermit in the following video on The Muppet YouTube channel this week.
