Highlights For The Week Of August 21

The Solar Eclipse of 2017
A Total Solar Eclipse took place on Monday. And I had exclusive coverage, including a how-to on making an eclipse viewing box. The next Total Solar Eclipse that will be visible in North America is April 8, 2024, so bookmark the viewing box video and come back to it in seven years.

The week began with the eclipse and drew to a close with the 11th anniversary of the demotion of Pluto to dwarf planet status. I’ve been campaigning to get that decision by the International Astronomical Union (IAU)reversed. And I’m not alone, Alan Stern, the principal investigator on the NASA New Horizons mission to Pluto also supports the campaign.

To show your support use the hashtag #BringBackPluto on social media and tag the IAU. Their Facebook handle is InternationalAstronomicalUnion and on Twitter they are @IAU_org.

What Parents Want From Christian Schools
The Barna Group just released a new study on what parent look for in Christian schools. The most often stated goal of having their children attend Christian schools if “to instill strong principles and values.” See the full report here.

Six Flags Project 2018
With Six Flags Over Georgia retiring the Georgia Cyclone roller coaster, they’re continuing to tease the ride that will replace it. Here’s the latest video.

Photo Of The Week
I’m not sure where this guy got his suitcase, but there’s little chance that someone else will pick it up at baggage claim. I’m calling this selfie luggage.
