About Benji Shepherd

When you are in a battle against breast cancer, you don't get a day off. That's why I'm running 5K A DAY everyday in the month of October. I'm doing this in solidarity with those who are in the fight, in honor of those who've fought the battle and survived, and in memory of those whose battle is done.

Since 2003, as a listener, I’ve relied on The JOY FM to be my place to go to on the dial for a soundtrack of worship to our great God.  That was the year I made the decision to accept Christ as my savior. It was the music that I heard in church – music relevant to my generation, the songs I also hear on The JOY FM - that stirred my heart and turned my attention to Jesus.

I’ve always loved working in radio since my first exposure to being on air with Georgia Southern University’s student run station in 1992 to working at stations local to LaGrange and Newnan. Combining my passion for the Lord, music, and radio made being part of the ministry of The JOY FM the perfect fit for me!

I have been blessed so much by finding a beautiful wife and receiving the gift of a daughter, who goes by the name Alice on the air ;).

I have a very short attention span which causes me to have a new interest every few months. Currently, I enjoy watching English Premier League football (around these parts we call it soccer).

I have producer duties for The Jayar Show.  Additionally, you can hear me every Saturday and Sunday afternoon from 3pm to 7pm and I host The Local Artist Spotlight.

Favorite Bible passage:  Romans 5:1-5  “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.  Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;   perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
