This Christmas carol is about the humble beginnings of Jesus. The Son of God did not come with pomp and circumstance. He was born in a stable, amongst the animals.
She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them. (Luke 2:7)
He walked where we trod. Yet, as God promised, Jesus was the Messiah, sent to save us and pay the ultimate price for our sins. He now sits at the right hand of God, looking down on us.
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.
This carol truly tells the story of Jesus' birth. It is not know who wrote this carol, though many attribute the words to Martin Luther.
Here is the carol, as sung by Brandon Heath-
