Cancer is a disease that affects millions of people. Often times, we hear the sad stories about the pain and struggles, and the news that someone passed away from the disease.
Elise Tedeschi (l.) and Kenny Bittick recently sat down with me to share each their stories battling cancer. But their stories are different. They never gave up hope. Throughout his journey, Kenny remained firm in his faith. That didn't mean he didn't face struggles while battling Hodgkin's lymphoma. Chemo affected his phyisical and mental state. But his family, friends, and his church family stayed by his side to lift him up.
Elise was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer in 2012. That type of cancer usually means the end is near. Elise did not let that stop her fight. But, unlike Kenny, Elise was not a Christian at the time of her diagnosis. A neighbor came over to pray over her, and that started her journey to know Jesus, and kicked her battle into high gear! She began to see what God can do in her life while she fought and was baptized a few months after her diagnosis. She has thrived for the last six years, and is excited to share how God has worked in all of it! She felt led to write an open letter to Jeopardy host Alex Trebek when he announced his diagnosis in March.
Their stories are powerful testimonies how God can walk beside you and give you strength during those battles. Kenny found his outlook was lifted when he read stories from others how they beat their cancer. God has moved him to start putting together stories from others who have been victorious or in remission.
If you have a story of survival, you can submit your story. You can listen to the full conversation below.
