I Am A Companion

companionsPerspective is vital for navigating our way through life. The eighth stanza of Psalm 119 opens with a perspective setting line, “The Lord is my portion.” With that established it’s easy to know how to proceed. The psalmist states he has promised to keep God’s word, he has considered his own ways, found them in conflict with his perspective and “turned my feet to Your testimonies.”

In the face of conflict, “the cords of the wicked have encircled me,” the psalmist does not lose heart, quite the opposite. He remembers God’s law and gives thanks. And that perspective assures him that he is not alone, but “a companion of all those who fear You, and of those who keep Your precepts.”

I’ll be sharing from this portion of Psalm 119 during Midday Prayer Time this week, around 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM.
