When we give our lives to God we become disenfranchised from the world. We stay in the world, but are no longer “of the world.” And while we are set apart, our work is to be centered on winning those who still belong to the world.
The key to being in yet not of the world and maintaining our sanity and our usefulness to both God and those we would win for Him is to found in God’s word. This week we return to the 119th Psalm during Midday Prayer Time, around 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM. This portion of the Psalm, subtitled “Gimel” for the third letter in the Hebrew alphabet, deals with the believer as a stranger in the earth.
As this portion of scripture tells us, God’s word contains wonderful things and is to be our delight and serve as our counselor. Even as others may seek to do us harm or ridicule us for our “peculiar” beliefs, we found confidence and comfort in God’s word.
