The Bible has an amazing ability to show us who we really are and at the same time who can be. God’s word reflects all of our ugly truths, the shortcomings, the sin, the evil lurking within us. And yet, it gives us hope that we are not destined to remain as we are.
In Psalms 119 we read, “Oh that my ways may be established to keep Your statutes! Then I shall not be ashamed when I look upon all Your commandments.”
When we ponder the righteousness of God it’s not unusual for us to, initially at least, feel unworthy. For we are. But as we study God’s word, seek His heart and His will, we come to see His great love and mercy for us and find the desire and strength that He provides for us to walk in His ways.
