Sacrifice can be a noble thing. Most of us have made sacrifices at one time or another. Parents especially know sacrifice and often make them happily. We love our children and willingly go without so that they might have something, an experience or material thing, that we see as vital for them. Making a sacrifice is an act of love.
With that in mind, look at the great sacrifice Jesus made for us. The New Testament book of Hebrews describes that sacrifice. The author of the book begins by describing what Jesus is and what He had, “He (Jesus) is the radiance of His (God the father’s) glory and the exact representation of His nature.”
Yet Jesus willingly set aside that glory and “was made for a little while lower than the angels…so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.” Jesus was made like us “in all things” so that “He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.”
