Evil seems to be winning. Almost weekly we hear reports of terrorist attacks, mass murders, political intrigue, accusations of sexual misconduct, divisiveness, scandals and more. It’s enough to drive even the most optimistic among us to despair.
But we know evil will not prevail, cannot prevail. Those of us who call Jesus lord and savior seek to walk in His counsel and we delight in the law of the Lord. It’s our hope and gives us the courage to stand fast, like a tree firmly planted by streams of water.
The evil and wicked in this world, on the other hand, are but chaff which the wind drives away. And yet, we must be quick to understand that once we too were counted among them. As we meditate, as the Psalmist says, “day and night” on God’s law, we come to understand that the way to defeat evil is to lead others to the truth of the gospel. That is the ultimate fulfillment of God’s law and our delight.
On Monday, November 6, I’ll be sharing Psalms chapter 1 during Mid Day Prayer Time, around 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM. The rest of the week The JOY FM will in the midst of our Sharathon.
