Teamwork- God and you!

Finishing the race

The year is coming to a close. Like you, there are things that I would like to improve upon for 2019. It would be great to be even more physically fit, strengthen relationships with my family, work more on my prayer life and scripture reading. Time to come up with ways to do that. But, it's also a time to be grateful for the good things that occured and the accomplishments from this past year. I can't believe that I have been able to maintain my weight three years after losing over 100 pounds! I've been able to get out and exercise at least two to three times a week. There was completing my first ever AJC Peachtree Road Race (above), and the 5k a day Challenge with Benji to raise awareness and money for breast cancer.

This is not about me and what I've done. This is about God doing this in my life. It's about Him working and motivating me. I could not have done all of this without God!

There were many times when I was too tired. There were days when I was overwhelmed and very busy. But all of that was my doing. It was me letting my brokenness take over. God was the one who pushed me. He didn't create me to just sit idle. He wants you and me to be the best we can be for Him- physically, mentally, and spiritually. It was following His will (especially since my will was at times not there!). I am truly thankful for His work through me and in me!

In Romans, Paul reminds us that we cannot do work alone- Yes, I know that nothing good lives in me—I mean nothing good lives in the part of me that is not spiritual. I want to do what is good, but I don’t do it. (Romans 7:18 ERV) I certainly did not want to do it! It was only when I turned to God for strength and motivation that I was able to do it.

I am so thankful for all that God has done within me this past year, and that He loves me and wants to see the best for me. He wants the same for you! So as you look back on this past year, reflect on what has happened this year. What have you accomplished? Don't just look at the big wins. What about those small steps? The short term goals? Write them down. These are the things that you did with God as your teammate!  Then let God motivate you to do all you can in 2019!

Everything you say and everything you do should be done for Jesus your Lord. And in all you do, give thanks to God the Father through Jesus. (Colossians 3:17 ERV)
