I have such a hard time letting go of the things I've done in the past. I'm not proud of it.
I am not alone. I hear so many stories of people feeling the same way. You may be in that same situation of carrying tremendous guilt. Or, you are struggling right now with sin that you cannot let go. Regardless of it being past or present, we begin to wonder if we'll ever let it go. We begin to wonder if God will forgive us.
Someone shared with me how this passage of scripture has helped them understand the great length God goes to cast our sins. It's from Micah 7-
'Where is the god who can compare with you— wiping the slate clean of guilt, Turning a blind eye, a deaf ear, to the past sins of your purged and precious people? You don’t nurse your anger and don’t stay angry long, for mercy is your specialty. That’s what you love most. And compassion is on its way to us. You’ll stamp out our wrongdoing. You’ll sink our sins to the bottom of the ocean. You’ll stay true to your word to Father Jacob and continue the compassion you showed Grandfather Abraham— Everything you promised our ancestors from a long time ago. (Micah 7:18-20)
The image of God taking our brokenness and throwing so deep in the ocean that it will never be found again. It gets lost at sea. It's gone! He has done that for you through Jesus' death on the cross!
I have been praying that I can let go of my past sins. It's not easy, especially when this world and the evil around us fuels that negativity. Once I was reminded of that scripture, I have a deeper understanding of how I am loved. You are too! Keep that passage with you to contanstly remind you that you are new in Christ and your sins are buried forever in the deppest part of the ocean!
In Christ's Love,
