Do you ever feel like God’s love and mercy are for everyone else but you? You the truth in your head, but you just can’t feel it in your heart. The main reason for most is they don’t feel worthy because of past or present sin. Or maybe you don’t feel worthy because of life circumstances where you beg for a miracle and one doesn’t seem to come. It’s easy to think, “God helps others, but he won’t help me.”
The answer to feelings of unworthiness is found in the truth of God’s Word. The very point of the cross is we are gloriously unworthy and yet Jesus chose us anyway.
- The very hairs of your head are all numbered—Luke 12:7.
- He counts the star and calls them all by name—Psalm 147:4.
- All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be—Psalm 139:16.
You may know every one of these verses and still feel like you don’t deserve His kindness. Something that may work for you is writing down verses about how much Jesus loves you. Then read them out loud every day. And then write down every little kindness of Jesus you experience throughout the day. You can find a more complete list of verses like these at www.openbible.info/topics/god_loves_me .
Your life story is still being written. Jesus’ plan is to make you more and like Him today and the rest of your life until you see him face-to-face. You might as well get used to accepting His love … it’s for eternity after all.
