If anyone knew what joy is, it would have to be the apostle John. He walked with Jesus from the beginning of His ministry till the end. It was to John that Jesus entrusted the care of His mother Mary. Yet in the first verses of his first letter, 1 John, he says he is writing, “so that our joy may be made complete.”
I’ve read those verses hundreds of times, but it was only recently that I was particularly struck with verse 4. John’s joy was made complete by sharing the good news. Like love, joy is one of those rare things, the more you give it away the more of it you have.
If we want our joy to be complete we must share it, and the greatest joy comes from sharing the good news of the Gospel.
