Scouting for Food is a National Boy Scout service project. Each year, on the first and second Saturdays in February (3rd and 10th, 2018), Flint River Council Scouts collect non-perishable food items from the community through door to door home contact, collection from congregations that sponsor Boy Scout Troops and Cub Scout Packs, donations from the workforce at partnering corporations and petitioning grocery store patrons. Last year, a total of 44,886 items of food were distributed to food banks within the Flint River Council (Coweta, Fayette, Henry, Spalding, Butts, Lamar, Upson and Pike counties). Scouts conduct this and other service projects to uphold that part of the Scout Oath wherein we pledge to "...help other people at all times...." and to instill a servant’s heart in the youth served through the Scouting program. So be on the look-out for Scouts on February 3rd and 10th because they will be "Scouting for Food". Any donation will be greatly appreciated!
