Week of March 11-15, 2013

Roma Downey and Mark Burnett need no introduction, but allow us to do so anyway...

Mark Burnett is one of the most prolific reality-show producers on television.  Burnett, who has scored in recent years with feel-good fare like NBC's singing contest "The Voice," ABC's entrepreneurial showcase "Shark Tank," and CBS's "Survivor," has now produced a highly acclaimed mini-series on The History Channel called "The Bible."

The History Channel premiere was the most-watched television program of the night on Sunday, March 3, 2013, even beating Burnett's other project, the hit TV series "The Celebrity Apprentice." Furthermore, the "Bible" series became a trending topic on Twitter.  "The Bible" premiere marked the no. 1 cable television event of the year, as 14.8 million viewers tuned into the "Bible" series.

The show, which launched on Sunday, March 3rd on History channel and runs on consecutive Sundays through Easter, covers the Old and New Testaments and cherry-picks some of the best-known stories from Genesis to Revelation. Burnett and his wife, co-executive producer Roma Downey — who stars as Mother Mary — have by turns called the project "madly ambitious" and "completely humbling."

"We know God moved last night," Downey said in a statement on Monday, March 4th, the day after the premiere of "The Bible" on The History Channel.  "People of all denominations showed the power that can be unleashed in our culture when we band together, individual believers with a shared purpose and vision. The world is won when the church is one."

"Survivor" creator and television mogul Mark Burnett married Roma Downey in 2007. The actress is best known for her role on the television series "Touched By An Angel." The couple conceived the idea for the"Bible" series based on Scripture three years ago.

"This book is alive.  Today, more Americans and Canadians are talking about God's chosen people. They're talking more about the faithfulness and perseverance of Noah, Abraham and Moses than any time in recent history."

Gary LeVox also needs no introduction.  He is an American singer-songwriter and consummate musician, best known as the lead vocalist of the award-winning American country trio Rascal Flatts.

If you've never heard of Rascal Flatts, then you must not listen to country music. You must not read People magazine or Reader's Digest or watch much TV. Rascal Flatts is everywhere. The group- comprised of lead singer Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney- is one of country's hottest acts.  The band has multiple awards since 2005, and in 2012 received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
