About Roxanne Davison

What’s your favorite sports team?
I’m an Alabama girl, born and raised.  But I am not a die-hard Alabama fan like Paige and Carmen.  I grew up near Auburn, so that is my favorite college team.  It gets lively at our house when Alabama and Auburn play one another.  My husband is an Alabama fan.

He tells folks that I almost got him “murdered” at a game between Auburn and Florida one year when we attended.  We were living in Florida at the time and went with some friends that were Florida graduates to a game.  I was sitting among Florida fans and yelling for Auburn.  They were not very nice or amused.  But Auburn won the game in the last few seconds, so I was happy and my husband did survive. We’ve never been back!

What’s your dream job?
I have always wanted to write for Southern Living magazine.  I have been a loyal subscriber and would love to write about different locations in the southeast.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
If I could travel overseas, my dream locations to visit are Ireland, Scotland and Great Britain. I have also always wanted to visit the Swiss Alps.

If I travel in the US, I always enjoy going anywhere there is a lighthouse I haven’t seen before.  My husband and I have traveled part of the Maine coast visiting lighthouses and also the Washington state coast from the Oregon border to just south of Seattle.  My retirement dream is to be able to travel the East coast from Florida to Nova Scotia, Canada and see as many lighthouses as possible.

What is your role and how long have you worked at The Joy FM?
I am the Office Manager.  I do everything from answering phones to creating invoices and lots more in between.  My role is a behind-the-scenes, support role and I like it that way.  I have worked for The Joy FM since 2006.

What other type jobs have you had before coming to The Joy FM?
I am a Registered Radiologic Technologist, but left the field when our children were born.  I have worked as a church secretary/receptionist, a school paraprofessional and a Bible proofreader.  By far, being a Bible proofreader was the most interesting and very rewarding.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to garden and spend time with my family, especially our two beautiful grandkids.  I also plan to spend some time taking up photography again; something both my husband and I enjoyed doing when we were in college.

What’s your favorite Bible verse?
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
